Our Organic & Biodynamic Estate Vineyards

As vintners, we at DeLoach Vineyards are especially sensitive to the delicate nature of our environment, and feel a strong responsibility to nurture and protect this land that we love. In that spirit, after the stellar 2004 harvest, we said farewell to 17 acres of old vines in our estate vineyards and started the long transition to biodynamic, organic, and sustainable farming. Our fields were re-planted with cover crops to nourish and revitalize the soil; after several years of letting the land lie fallow, we have now started to replant the vineyards. All planting is done in sync with the lunar calendar, to ensure the maximum health of the vines. We use a biodynamic compost that is extremely rich in microbes to fertilize the soil. In summer of 2008 our estate vineyards received their organic certification from CCOF and in December 2009, Demeter granted us our biodynamic certification for both our vineyards and our organic garden.

Our first harvest is planned for 2010, six years after our last harvest. The journey is a long one but we are confident that our move to biodynamic, organic, and sustainable farming and the subsequent healthier vines will not only be more beneficial to our beloved land but will also yield beautiful wines that will be worth the wait!
