 Our Pinot Blanc was sourced from the Frog Patch block of Saralee’s vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The vines are quite de-vigorated at this site and develop small clusters that were picked at flavor ripeness and whole-cluster pressed. The juice was left to settle overnight, then racked to neutral French oak barrels, fermented dry and aged sur lie with occasional stirring to increase mouthfeel and texture. The wine was prevented from going through malolactic fermentation to highlight the white fruit and minerality of the grape and to conserve natural acidity. Enticing aromas of ripe stone fruit, fresh pear and honeydew melon are woven with notes of strawberry pastry and white pepper in this medium-bodied, richly textured wine. Essence of aromatic small white flowers enhances the minerality and complements the lush palate of Meyer lemon curd and fresh cream, while a bright citrus acid edge lifts the structure for a clean, brilliant finish. |
